Fees to find in the terms
Origination, late payment and early repayment fees can sit a long way down an agreement.
An origination fee covers setting the financing up. Some lenders take it out of the amount before paying it to you, so the sum that reaches your account can be smaller than the sum you owe. Check which way it works before you sign.
Late fees and returned-payment fees only apply if something goes wrong, which makes them easy to skip. Read them anyway. Some agreements also charge for paying early, which matters if you might clear the balance ahead of time.
